Alex Emmons is an artist and educator. Emmons received her MFA in Photography from Arizona State University in 2005 and BA in Studio Art from Denison University in 1996. She grew up in rural upstate New York surrounded by the Catskill Mountains and her parent’s 16-year renovation project; these points of interest continue to inform her creative intuition today.
She has shown her photography in both solo and group exhibitions. In 2016, her work was featured in a two-person show entitled “House & Garden” at the MAINSITE Gallery in Norman, Oklahoma. Recent solo exhibitions also include Vally City State University in Valley City, North Dakota, Tarleton State University in Stephensville, Texas, Visual Arts Center, University of Colorado, Boulder, and Santa Fe University of Art & Design. Emmons is the recipient of various grants and awards. Alex Emmons works with a range of photo media, from 19th-century photographic methods to current digital image-making. Her projects are inspired by memories, intuition, and personal history which she incorporates to connect with her audience.
